Who We Are
BusinessNES (businessnes.com, the "Website") is operated by Jarosław Stolarz, based in Warsaw, Poland ("we," "us," or "our"). For the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us about anything privacy related at [email protected].
This policy explains what data is collected when you use the Website, why it is collected, who it is shared with, and the choices and rights you have. It is written to address the GDPR and the ePrivacy rules in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, state privacy laws in the United States (including the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA), and Brazil's Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD).
Mediavine Programmatic Advertising (Ver 1.1)
The Website works with Mediavine to manage third-party interest-based advertising appearing on the Website. Mediavine serves content and advertisements when you visit the Website, which may use first and third-party cookies. A cookie is a small text file which is sent to your computer or mobile device (referred to in this policy as a "device") by the web server so that a website can remember some information about your browsing activity on the Website.
First party cookies are created by the website that you are visiting. A third-party cookie is frequently used in behavioral advertising and analytics and is created by a domain other than the website you are visiting. Third-party cookies, tags, pixels, beacons and other similar technologies (collectively, "Tags") may be placed on the Website to monitor interaction with advertising content and to target and optimize advertising. Each internet browser has functionality so that you can block both first and third-party cookies and clear your browser's cache. The "help" feature of the menu bar on most browsers will tell you how to stop accepting new cookies, how to receive notification of new cookies, how to disable existing cookies and how to clear your browser's cache. For more information about cookies and how to disable them, you can consult the information at All About Cookies.
Without cookies you may not be able to take full advantage of the Website content and features. Please note that rejecting cookies does not mean that you will no longer see ads when you visit our Site. In the event you opt-out, you will still see non-personalized advertisements on the Website.
The Website collects the following data using a cookie when serving personalized ads:
- IP Address
- Operating System type
- Operating System version
- Device Type
- Language of the website
- Web browser type
- Email (in hashed form)
Mediavine Partners (companies listed below with whom Mediavine shares data) may also use this data to link to other end user information the partner has independently collected to deliver targeted advertisements. Mediavine Partners may also separately collect data about end users from other sources, such as advertising IDs or pixels, and link that data to data collected from Mediavine publishers in order to provide interest-based advertising across your online experience, including devices, browsers and apps. This data includes usage data, cookie information, device information, information about interactions between users and advertisements and websites, geolocation data, traffic data, and information about a visitor's referral source to a particular website. Mediavine Partners may also create unique IDs to create audience segments, which are used to provide targeted advertising.
If you would like more information about this practice and to know your choices to opt-in or opt-out of this data collection, please visit National Advertising Initiative opt out page. You may also visit Digital Advertising Alliance website and Network Advertising Initiative website to learn more information about interest-based advertising. You may download the AppChoices app at Digital Advertising Alliance's AppChoices app to opt out in connection with mobile apps, or use the platform controls on your mobile device to opt out.
For specific information about Mediavine Partners, the data each collects and their data collection and privacy policies, please visit Mediavine Partners.
Your Consent Choices (Cookie Banner)
If you visit the Website from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another region where prior consent is required, you will see a consent banner before advertising cookies are set. The banner is provided through Mediavine's Consent Management Platform, operated by consentmanager, and follows the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF).
- Accept all allows personalized advertising and analytics as described in this policy.
- Settings opens granular controls where you can allow or refuse individual purposes and vendors, including a Reject All option.
- Rejecting does not remove ads. You will instead see contextual, non-personalized ads based on the content of the page rather than on your personal data.
Your choice is stored for up to 6 months, or until you clear your browser cookies, or until the vendor list changes in a way that requires renewed consent. You can review or change your choices at any time using the Update Privacy Settings link in the Website footer.
Cookies Used on This Website
The table below lists cookies observed during a limited scan of the Website homepage and cookies currently known to us. The list may change as we add, remove, or update Website features, plugins, advertising partners, analytics tools, or service providers. Cookies marked "Strictly necessary" do not require consent because they are needed for the Website or the consent system to function. Where consent is required, we aim to set analytics cookies only after you have given consent; see the Analytics section below.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Duration | Category |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| __cmpconsentx134349 | consentmanager (businessnes.com) | Stores your overall consent decision so the banner is not shown again on every visit | 6 months | Strictly necessary |
| __cmpcccx134349 | consentmanager (businessnes.com) | Stores your detailed per-purpose and per-vendor consent choices | 6 months | Strictly necessary |
| AWSALB, AWSALBCORS | Amazon Web Services (scripts.mediavine.com) | Load balancing for the servers that deliver the Mediavine ad script | 6 days | Mediavine technical (load balancing) |
| _ga | Google Analytics (businessnes.com) | Distinguishes unique visitors for aggregate traffic statistics | About 13 months | Analytics |
| _ga_* | Google Analytics (businessnes.com) | Maintains session state and counts page views for traffic statistics | About 13 months | Analytics |
Browser storage entries beginning with __cmp may also be used to remember your consent choices. You can remove them by clearing your browser's site data for businessnes.com. The AWSALB and AWSALBCORS cookies support delivery and load balancing of Mediavine scripts and are not used by us to identify you for personalized advertising. In addition, our hosting provider and our content delivery network (Cloudflare) may set short-lived technical cookies used solely for security, bot protection, and caching. These are strictly necessary and contain no advertising data. When you consent to personalized advertising, Mediavine Partners may set additional third-party cookies from their own domains as described in the Mediavine section above; the full partner list is linked there.
Analytics (Google Analytics 4)
We use Google Analytics 4, a service of Google LLC, to understand aggregate traffic patterns: which articles are read, how visitors arrive, and how the Website performs. Google Analytics processes your IP address, device and browser information, and page interaction events on our behalf. We use this information only in aggregate form to improve content and site performance. We do not use Google Analytics data to identify individual visitors.
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and other regions where consent is required, we configure Google Analytics to respect consent choices and to avoid setting analytics cookies unless the required consent has been given. You can withdraw consent at any time through the Update Privacy Settings link in the footer. You can also block Google Analytics in any region by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Affiliate Links and Amazon Associates
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Some articles and tools on the Website contain affiliate links, primarily to Amazon. If you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, we may receive a commission at no additional cost to you.
Clicking an affiliate link takes you to the retailer's own website. Amazon then sets its own cookies on its own domains to attribute any purchase you make to this Website. Those cookies are governed by Amazon's privacy notice, not by this policy, and we never see them. We do not load Amazon scripts, widgets, or pixels on the Website itself, and Amazon does not send us any personal data about you; we receive only aggregate commission reports. You can read how Amazon handles your data in the Amazon Privacy Notice available on amazon.com.
Networking PRO Tool
The Website hosts Networking PRO, a free community tool at businessnes.com/networking/ where you can publish a professional profile and exchange messages with other members. Because you provide data directly to us there, this section explains exactly how it is handled.
What we collect. When you create a profile you provide a name, an email address, and optionally a location, role, skills, a short pitch, a website link, and a LinkedIn link. If you use messaging, we store the messages you send and receive so we can deliver and display them. Sign-in works through a magic link sent to your email; we do not store passwords.
What is public. Publishing a profile makes your profile card (name, role, location, skills, pitch, and links) visible to all visitors of the page. Your email address is private by default and is shown publicly only if you enable the "Show my email on my public card" option. Messages are visible only to you, the member you exchange them with, and the site operator for abuse prevention and technical support.
Where it is stored. Profile and message data is stored using Google services, including Google Apps Script and Google Sheets. Google may process this data in the United States and other countries where Google or its subprocessors operate. Access is restricted to the site operator. Transfers of this data outside the European Economic Area are protected as described in the International Data Transfers section below.
Legal basis and retention. We process this data to provide the service you signed up for (performance of a contract, GDPR Article 6(1)(b)); optional fields and public email display are based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. We keep your profile and messages until you ask us to remove them. You can request removal or a copy of your data at any time by writing to [email protected], and we will act on the request without undue delay.
Other Data We Process
Server logs and security. Our hosting provider (located in the European Union) and our content delivery and security provider (Cloudflare, Inc.) automatically process technical data such as your IP address, browser type, and requested pages in server logs. We use this data solely to operate the Website securely, prevent abuse and bot traffic, and diagnose technical problems, based on our legitimate interest in running a safe and functional website. Logs are kept for a limited period and then deleted or anonymized.
Correspondence. If you contact us by email or through our social media pages, we process the information you send us in order to reply. Our pages on Facebook, X, and Instagram are governed by those platforms' own privacy policies in addition to this one.
Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR)
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases: your consent (Article 6(1)(a)) for personalized advertising cookies, analytics cookies, and optional Networking PRO fields; performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b)) for providing the Networking PRO service; and our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) for site security, abuse prevention, serving non-personalized contextual ads, and basic operation of the Website. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time with effect for the future, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
International Data Transfers
We operate from Poland, and some of our service providers process data in the United States, including Google LLC, Cloudflare, Inc., Amazon Web Services (as infrastructure for ad script delivery), and Mediavine, Inc. and its advertising partners. Where a recipient is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (Google LLC and Cloudflare, Inc. are certified), transfers rely on the European Commission's adequacy decision for that framework. For other transfers we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or other safeguards permitted under Chapter V of the GDPR. For transfers involving data collected in Brazil, we rely on the equivalent mechanisms recognized under the LGPD.
Data Retention
Consent choices are stored for up to 6 months, as described above. Google Analytics event data is retained for the retention period configured in our Google Analytics settings and is then deleted automatically by Google. Networking PRO profiles and messages are kept until you request removal. Server and security logs are kept for a limited period defined by our hosting and CDN providers. Email correspondence is kept as long as needed to handle your inquiry and any follow-up.
Your Privacy Rights
European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland
If you are in the EEA or UK, you may have rights under the GDPR or UK GDPR. If you are in Switzerland, you may have rights under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection. These include the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to processing, to receive your data in a portable format, and to withdraw any consent you have given. To exercise these rights, email [email protected]. To withdraw cookie consent specifically, use the Update Privacy Settings link in the footer. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Our lead authority is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office in Poland (Prezes Urzędu Ochrony Danych Osobowych, ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warsaw, uodo.gov.pl), and you may also complain to the authority in your own country.
United States State Privacy Rights
Where applicable US state privacy laws apply to BusinessNES, residents of California or other covered US states may have the right to know what personal information we collect, to access it, to correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information and of targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information for money. However, the personalized advertising described in the Mediavine section involves disclosing identifiers (such as IP address and cookie or device identifiers), internet activity, coarse location, and advertising inferences to advertising partners, which qualifies as "sharing" (and in some states "selling") under these laws.
You can opt out at any time using the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link (also labeled Update Privacy Settings) in the Website footer. We also honor the Global Privacy Control browser signal as an opt-out of sharing for targeted advertising. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16. We do not intentionally request sensitive personal information, and users should not submit sensitive personal, financial, health, confidential, or illegal information through the Website or Networking PRO; however, messages, posts, or profile fields may contain information that users choose to provide. We will never discriminate against you for exercising your rights. For access, correction, or deletion requests, email [email protected]; we may need to verify your request, and you may use an authorized agent where your state law allows it.
Brazil (LGPD)
Visitors in Brazil are shown only non-personalized advertising; Mediavine's ad technology detects Brazilian traffic and does not serve interest-based ads there. If you are in Brazil, you have the rights granted by Article 18 of the LGPD, including confirmation of processing, access, correction, anonymization or deletion, portability, information about sharing, and revocation of consent. To exercise them, or to reach the person responsible for data processing matters, email [email protected]. You may also file a complaint with the Autoridade Nacional de Proteção de Dados (ANPD).
Children's Privacy
The Website is intended for a general adult audience interested in business topics and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16, and the Networking PRO tool may not be used by anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it.
Security
All traffic to the Website is encrypted with HTTPS. Access to stored Networking PRO data is restricted to the site operator, and we use established providers (Google, Cloudflare, and our EU-based hosting provider) with their own certified security programs. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the data we handle, and we will notify affected users and authorities of any personal data breach where the law requires it.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
There is no common industry standard for legacy "Do Not Track" browser signals, so the Website does not respond to them. We do honor the Global Privacy Control signal as an opt-out of sharing for targeted advertising in US states where that is required, and visitors in consent regions control tracking directly through the consent banner.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the Website, our providers, or the law changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. Meaningful changes will be reflected here, and where the law requires it, we will ask for consent again.
